EverBank Field is home to the NFL professional team Jacksonville Jaguars. And their arrival to the stadium in 1995 that was called at the time Gator Bowl marked the first NFL team to play its first game in a new stadium. The stadium’s name changed to be Alltel Stadium after the telecommunications company Alltel bought the naming rights, and by the expiration of the contract in 2007, the name was changed then.

EverBank Field hosted a number of big sporting events including the Super Bowl XXXIX in 2005 in which Philadelphia Eagles were beaten by New England Patriots. And at halftime of that big event that drew over than 78,125 fans, the legendary singer Paul McCartney performed especially some great songs such as "Hey Jude", and Get Back." During 2003 and 2004, the stadium have seen different ameliorations including the addition of a wider video and scoring display, escalators, a unique sports bar and a lot more.

The event that marked attendance record in the venue was a game between Alabama and Florida State in September 2007 in which the Florida State was the winner. The event was followed by 85,413 attendees. More renovations have done to the arena in 2013 including the addition of new video scoreboards, new platform area, and more alterations. In addition to soccer games, the stadium has hosted many other events including college football games and concerts.
